• I'm a self-taught, freelance artist with a passion for animals. I've been drawing since I could pick up a pencil but I only started seriously doing art since the internet became available to me sometime in 2000. I started out drawing big cats but moved on to wolves shortly after. To this day ..... More »»

Also with regards to the number of art drawn by the artist a day, I understand fully that some people request for their drawing not to be uploaded (therefore making the art uploads a weak indicator of artist performance). However in the last three months (march 1st through may 21st) she has uploaded 28 commission images. If she was actually doing 3 commissions a day, that means the actual value of uploads should be 246 (at 3 pieces a day). If wild was truly finishing that many pieces a day... it would mean that almost 89% of people are requesting that their art not be posted. This seems like an unrealistic number, especially since most commissions come from fans who have no issues with wild showing off the work. On the other hand if wild completed 2 pieces of art on average a day (164 pieces per the month) 83% of people are requesting that the art is not reposted. If she averages 1 piece of art a day, that value drops to 65%. Although its "possible" that a 2/3's majority requests that the image drawn is not-uploaded, I highly doubt it. Especially with regards to wild's fan base and consumer target group.

Unfortunately I am not " throwing lies around." as insane roman would suggest. I wish I was. WIldspiritwolf is a fantastic artists, but falls short of running a productive business (and thus why I wouldn't recommend her). The only way to actually measure the amount of commissions wild does is through her deviant art account. Her last submission (art upload) was may 9th. That was almost two weeks ago. If she is really completing three commissions a day as insaneroman suggests, her account does not reflect that activity. Moreover her account activity in the last 24 hours suggests that wild spent roughly 63.6% of her time responding personally to people whom she thought where stealing from her, 36.4% of her time actually commenting on her art and soliciting commissions (work) and 0% actually uploading art. I don't know about you.... but I find this highly inappropriate. I was a paying customer of wild. I did not pay her to track down "art theives" but rather draw. So why... is she spending well over 50% of her time accusing people of stealing her art, especially when there is a built in report button on deviant art? (clicking the report button takes far less time than messaging each member personally).

Okay, wow. First of all, she's been doing 3 commissions a day. That is her goal. Second of all, reused themes and poses are because commissioners see her previous works and want one like it. Get your facts straight before you go throwing your lies around. Also, as a tattoo artist mysrlf, I can honestly say that a decent design can take a while to draw. Get over it.

I should also note: my negative review has little to do with my personal commission taking 22 weeks (the deadline the artist gives is 6-12 weeks). I understand art can take time. My problem originates from the fact that wildspiritwolf only averages 1-2 art pieces a week. Although this might seem like a decnet number... the artist is able to average 10+ "you stole my art posts" a week. To me this indicates that the artist in question, wildspiritwolf, cares more about protecting her art then actually making art. That is a very slippery slope for an artist to take. Moreover the vast majority of her artwork isn't original at all; but rather, based on very common techniques and poses you can find in almost any "how to draw" book. She even recycles some of her art.

I also want to touch on the pricing. $100 is actually quite expensive for a piece if you do not receive the rights to it. Graphic design for a website usually costs roughly $1000-$2000 for an ENTIRE website (you can actually find some cheaper places then that) That includes banners, layouts, headers, ect. With wildspiritwolf you are paying $85-$100 for a single image that wild will claim belongs 100% to her (even though according to voottoo.com it does not). Not worth it. Moreover: There are cheaper alternatives on deviant art that give you the same quality of art for $50 less.
